About Us
If you're visiting our website for the first time, chances are you are curious about us and what we represent. Topsail Online Gazette got it's start in February 2015, originally as a small Facebook page. The idea was to provide locals to the Greater Topsail Region with news, alerts, and event info pertaining to our area here in Southeastern North Carolina — a concept that was very much lacking at the time. Back then, aside from a few relatively small Facebook group pages, nobody was regularly talking about what was going on in our area! As we have no major news outlets in the immediate Topsail area, much of the news/happenings were shared by word of mouth, from locals to other locals.
Fast forward to today, we have nearly 100k followers on our (once little) Facebook page and rather than having a novel idea based out of curiosity, we now have what feels like a true obligation to keep all of you up-to-date and connected to the area. As our audience grew, we realized that it wasn't just locals who wanted to stay informed or marvel over the beautiful pictures of Topsail Island which we share from our gifted local photographers. In fact, many of you follow us from thousands of miles away, longing for the day you can return to your slice of heaven, this beautiful area on the coast. We also hear from people who have never visited before as they plan their first vacation to Topsail!
As was the case in the beginning, Topsail Online Gazette is 100% non-profit. We make no money from what we share, including from any news outlet whose article links appear on our page via Facebook shares, nor do we claim other journalist's work. Photographs are also properly credited and we remain thankful to all who share with us so that we may continue to do what we do.
This is our community — and it's also your community. Thank you for allowing us to be your voice!
